Claycomb School Update: 11-13-2024

Work continued last week on the Claycomb School Project as Ramsey Construction poured the foundation walls. The Historical Society is excited about the opportunity to preserve this part of Greenwood County History. Plans are that the school will be moved to the site next week.

The Historical Society Museum is always free but if you feel like making a donation, it's always appreciated.

We Need Your Help.

Occasionally, we come across items in our inventory that may require your assistance to identify. This could be anything from unrecognized people in a class photo to unfamiliar buildings. In such cases, we’ll post items on the Do You Know?”  section of this site, seeking additional details from the community.

SEK Museum Alliance Passport Program

The Greenwood County Historical Society recently became a member of the SEK Museum Alliance and is now participating in the Passport Program.

The Passport shows locations, hours, and interesting information about collections for 49 museums in Southeast Kansas. Visitors are encouraged to come to the Greenwood County Historical Society Museum, explore our collection and then pick up a passport and get it stamped.  Take your passport with you when you visit other museums in the Alliance and have their pages stamped as well. 

The Greenwood County Historical Society is open Monday – Friday from 10 – 4. Come explore our history.
