Mary (Edwards) Worley taught at Worley School, District 67, for 3 years from 1931 to 1933. She married Lawrence Worley in 1938 and they moved to Oregon in 1938.
The names on the quilt are the students of Worley School the first year she taught.
The quilt consists of 30 – 12×12” blocks. It is sashed in lavender with white cornerstone blocks.
The clothing pieces on the blocks are done in a variety of prints. The hats and shoes are done in solid colors. Names are embroidered in black embroidery thread.
Two blocks show Worley School in purple fabric with black embroidered details. One block has “Worley School – 1930 “embroidered on it. The second block has “Greenwood County” embroidered below the school house. Both schools have Dist. 67 embroidered on the bell tower.
