October 9th was a busy and very productive day at the Greenwood County Historical Society as it was Community Service Day. We had the help of five girls and a sponsor from Eureka Junior/Senior High School in the building and a tremendous amount of work was accomplished including moving boxes in the store room to create more space, and working on display pieces to replace photos and artifacts that had slipped in the photo panels. Additional work was done in labeling boxes of quilts and getting items ready to be displayed in a scrapbook from our 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The staff and board of the museum are very grateful for the work that was done in such a short amount of time and for the fun that was had by all. We appreciate those at Eureka Junior/Senior High School who organize this event and include us in their efforts to make improvements to Eureka.
We encourage the community to take time to come into the museum and get a glimpse of what was done. The museum is open Monday – Friday from 10 – 4.
