Donated by the Christian Church of Emporia and by Betty Donner in 1987.
Made by the Kum Join Us Class of the Methodist Church of Eureka in 1937
It is believed that someone bought it at auction of someone living in Emporia and it became the property of the Emporia Christian Church and they returned it to the makers -the Kum Join Us Class of the Eureka Methodist Church. It was made in 1931. It was donated to the museum.
The comforter contains 137 names. It was made of purple and gold rectangles and they were joined in the “brick” fashion. It is backed and bound in purple cotton. The gold rectangles are satin. The embroidery of the names is done with yellow thread on the purple blocks and purple thread on the yellow blocks. It is tied with yellow yarn at the points where the blocks intersect.
